April 2, 2014 marked the beginning of the transition of operations from Infraero’s Rio de Janeiro International Airport to RIOgaleão.
Initiated in August 2014, the transformation process of the then Tom Jobim International Airport received investments of R$ 2 billion, making RIOgaleão a world-class airport with the capacity to receive 37 million passengers per year, with new infrastructure, diversified services and state-of-the-art technology.
Until 2039, RIOgaleão will be responsible for the operation, expansion and maintenance of the Airport. RIOgaleão is a Concessionaire with the experience and recognition of Changi Airports International (CAI) as an investor and operator of major airports around the world, including Changi Airport, nominated best airport for a few years by the British consultancy Skytrax.

Infraero
With 40 years of experience in airport administration, Infraero is responsible, today, for the management of 61 airports, 75 Telecommunications and Air Traffic Service Providers and 32 Cargo Logistics Terminals, as well as several air navigation assistance stations in the Brazilian territory.
In 2013, its airports recorded 135.7 million arrivals and departures and moved 656.7 thousand tons of cargo. Infraero is also present - with 49% - in Sociedades de Propósitos Específicos (SPEs) (Special Purpose Companies) that manage the concession terminals of Guarulhos (SP), Viracopos (SP), Brasília (DF), Confins (MG) and Galeão (RJ). Infraero is also a reference in the training of professionals assigned to airport activities, as the only Brazilian publicly-held company authorized by the National Civil Aviation Agency to provide training such as the Formação Técnica de Bombeiro para Aeródromo (FTBA) (Technical Qualification for Aerodrome Firefighters). There are more than 40 courses, with varied duration, and several subjects, such as the basic course on Civil Aviation Safety (AVSEC), the Apron and Runway Inspectors Course and the Airport Administration course.
